Inanna and cheese, as learned so far from Cheese and Culture:
The most prominent female deity in Mesopotamia, Inanna, chose to marry a dairy farmer, Dumuzi, because she wanted cream, cheese, ghee, butter, and milk.
Daily offerings of butter and cheese were made to Inanna for thousands of years so that Inanna would ensure a healthy harvest. Thus, cheese and butter making processes were gradually perfected.
Cheese was eaten by the elite, and those who worked in the temples, making butter and cheese for their goddess.
Inanna evolved to be the Greek’s Aphrodite.
